Guidelines on minimum attendance, assessment parameters, re-admission, and campus discipline for all SIHM programmes.

Attendance Policy

All candidates admitted to different courses must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance during the academic session. Those who fail to secure 75% attendance shall be debarred from appearing in annual examinations conducted by the National Council.

The Principal may condone up to 10% absence on medical grounds, accompanied by a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

Assessment & Degree

Candidates in the 3-year B.Sc. programme undergo 3 assessment tests for theory and 7 for practical for mid-term marks carrying 30% weightage per semester, plus semester-ending examinations per Council rules.

To obtain a degree, students must pass five IGNOU courses during three years of study; separate counselling sessions are held at the Institute.

Detained & Failed Candidates

Detained candidates will be re-admitted to the subsequent academic session as repeaters on payment of full fees. Candidates who fail in the annual examination may appear in the subsequent annual examination either as a regular candidate after paying full fees, or as an external candidate on payment of examination fees only.

Campus Discipline

  1. 1Students must maintain strict discipline on campus. Smoking is prohibited. Consumption of alcohol or drugs during the course of study is an offence.
  2. 2Conduct shall not cause disturbance to fellow students or other classes. The Principal may expel a student whose work or conduct is unsatisfactory; fees paid will be forfeited.
  3. 3Students must not loiter on institute premises while classes are in session.
  4. 4Students shall do nothing inside or outside the institute that interferes with administration, discipline, or studies.
  5. 5Students must take proper care of institute property and help keep premises neat. Damage to property is a breach of discipline liable to punishment and recovery of loss.
  6. 6If continuance of a student is detrimental to the institute, the Principal may ask the student to leave without giving reasons; the decision shall be final.
  7. 7Non-compliance with institute rules may be dealt with through fines and disciplinary action.
  8. 8No part-time job or parallel course of education is permitted. Defaulters shall be terminated at the Principal’s discretion.
  9. 9The institute cannot accept liability for accidents sustained during practical work for any reason.
  10. 10Friends and relatives must not call students on the office telephone. Students are prohibited from using the office telephone.
  11. 11Parents or guardians must obtain progress reports of their ward in the first week of every month on any working day.
